Jersey Bowlers Off Island Success

Last week a handful of Jersey bowlers travelled to Southampton to play in the annual Southampton Open Tournament and the Atherley Singles before hand.

Although success was not on the cards in the weekend singles I am pleased to report  we have some winners in the Open Tournament.

Bowls Jersey would like to congratulate Gina Le Long, Maggie Jeanne and Carol Le Goff on winning the ladies triples beating J Farmer, A Knight and JBC’s own a Yvonne Andrews in the final 26-8. Well done ladies and commiserations to Yvonne and her team.

Also commiserations to Dianne Canavan who was beaten in the ladies singles final 21-11.

In the consolation pairs, Guy Walton teamed up with Atherley B.C.s Dave Edmunds who fell to Shaun Nash and Joe Leahy 22-14.  Special mention to Gus “Skippy” Hodgetts who subbed in the first game when Joe was unable to play and will now be telling the story as many teams as that Atlantic gold medal.

Well done to all the winners and finalists and all those who played in the week in not the best conditions and we have known the greens to play better but still a great week.

Men’s National Singles Change Of Dates

Due to the Roy De Pres trophy being played on Friday 23rd June through to Sunday 25th June, all Men’s National Singles matches scheduled for the 23rd June are hereby cancelled.

These games will now be played on Friday 7th July.  The rest of the rounds will follow on from there on the dates preceding.

Any players who are not participating in the Roy Du Pres who wish to play their game on 23rd June can do so as long as agreed between the 2 players and the green the match is due to take place on has availability.

Many thanks for your understanding and apologies if there has been any inconvenience caused by this change.
