St. Saviours Bowls Club

St Saviours Bowls Club was formed in 1980 to serve the bowls needs of the east of the island. With an original membership of over 200, the Club still manages to attract on average 140 bowlers each year. We have bowlers of all ages and abilities, with a terrific atmosphere in the clubhouse.

In the early days the clubhouse was just a small shed in the corner of the green with a kettle and not much else. During the last 37 years, the clubhouse has been expanded on several occasions so that we can comfortably seat 70+ players and guests. Changing rooms, locker area and toilets have been added, with the latest addition being a bar a couple of years ago and it has been a great success with both the members and visitors. We also have limited catering facilities but hope that these will improve by next year.

Although in the past we have been known as the friendly club, we have in recent years become quite a bit more competitive, however that does not mean that we have not retained our wonderful social side with several events held each season.

As well as plenty of seating around the green amongst our flowers, we have a fabulous internal purpose built viewing gallery for use by spectators and guests when the weather is cooler or a bit inclement from which you can see the whole green in perfect comfort while enjoying a cup of tea or a tipple.

We have a very active Management Committee that looks after everything to do with the pavilion and surrounds and parking area.

States of Jersey Sports Department provide our groundsmen and do a very good job maintaining our lovely green.

Always trying to improve the playing surface we have recently invested in a new polishing iron, so that we can ensure that our green runs well.

A large free private parking area at the back of the green has been recently improved by laying hard core throughout the area, which has been a massive plus for the club so that it is only a 50 metre walk to the clubhouse.

We host many visiting clubs each year and are always very pleased to receive new clubs and old friends who visit the beautiful island of Jersey, with its fabulous beaches, countryside flora and fauna. We hope we can help to make any club’s stay more memorable.
