Off-Island Travel Policy

Purpose 

This policy outlines the responsibilities, expectations, and standards for players and officials  representing Bowls Jersey when travelling off-island for competitions, events, or training. 

Scope 

This policy applies to all players, team officials, coaches, selectors, and spectators travelling  on behalf of Bowls Jersey. 

Code of Conduct 

All representatives must follow the Bowls Jersey Code of Conduct at all times while  travelling and competing. All participants must comply with the Bowls Jersey Code of  Conduct (2026). Breaches will be managed in line with Bowls Jersey disciplinary  procedures. Players must review and adhere to event code of conduct, if provided. 

General Behaviour Expectations 

Players and officials act as ambassadors for Bowls Jersey and must show respect,  sportsmanship, and professionalism at all times, including travel, accommodation, venues,  and social settings. 

Travel & Accommodation 

All participants must follow agreed travel plans, respect shared accommodation settings,  and behave responsibly. Any damage caused may be charged to the individual. 

Health, Safety & Welfare 

Participants must take reasonable care of themselves and others, report injuries or  concerns, and provide emergency contact details before travel. 

When travelling with players under 18 Bowls Jersey will apply the Safety Checklist provided by the Child Protection in Sport Unit website (thecpsu.org.uk).

Dress & Presentation 

Official Bowls Jersey clothing must be worn as required. Presentation should reflect  positively on the organisation. 

Alcohol, Drugs & Social Media 

Alcohol must be used responsibly. Illegal drugs are prohibited. Social media use must align  with the Code of Conduct and represent Bowls Jersey positively. 

Breaches 

Breaches may result in warnings, removal from events, suspension, or deselection in line  with disciplinary procedures.
