Commonwealth Day 6 Round up

Another mixed day at the Commonwealth Games on day 6.

The day started with Malcolm up against Isle Of Man in the Men’s Singles.  He breezed past before the big test later with a 21-8 win.

On at the same time was the ladies Pairs up against India. A slow start finding themselves 7-0 down after 4 ends but managed to get back on level terms after a couple of ends. Unfortunately India proved too strong and beat the ladies 22-12.

Malcolm and the ladies Pairs were straight back on to face tough tests. Malcolm was up against Canada’s And bookies favourite Ryan Bester. Deja vu for Malcolm who again put a great performance but fell agonisingly to a 21-20 defeat again.

The ladies were up against Wales in a very tough much. A very slow start saw them 12-0 down after 6 ends. The fight back was on and they managed to turn it Round it lead 14-13 after 13 ends. The Welsh ladies turned on their style and managed to beat our ladies 22-14.

Up in the next 2 sessions were the ladies Triples. They managed to keep their momentum up beating Namibia 15-12 in their first game of the day.

The tougher test was to come in the form on New Zealand.  After 10 ends it was proving to be a close contest with New Zealand leading 8-7. In the end New Zealand proved their superiority winning 24-8.

Tomorrow will be the last day of competition for team Jersey as unfortunately none can qualify out of the groups.  Best of luck on the final day and play for pride!!!
